Simply take Gerome along with you and photograph him at various sites. Along the way you may choose to tweet. The information to do that is written on his bottom. When you return hand over Gerome and the photos..along with any stories!

But do take care not to lose Gerome, that would be sad :(

Gerome has his own twitter account already. The URL address, ID and Password are all written on his bottom. If you have internet access you simply type in his twitter page address, enter the ID and password information, then type a brief message and hit send!

This way we can all follow you on your travels!

So far he's been in the checked-in baggage. This might lead to less hassle and spare any cavity searches..for you or Gerome ;)

He's 8-inches tall, made of hollow plastic resin, and weighs very little.

Not much, but I suspect he likes cheese.

The photos could be a challenge. Trying to get Gerome and the background in focus at the same time can be difficult. This is due to depth-of-field (google the term it if you like).

Strategies:

1. Keep Gerome in line with what you are photographing..so they are at the same distance.

2. Focus on Gerome until your camera beeps (keep your finger on the shutter and the focus locked) then shift to adjust your composition, and completely press the shutter release (button you push to take a picture).

3. New cameras have Face Recognition..Gerome has a face.

Bottom line, take many and something is bound to turn out! Check out the Photo Gallery for some samples of photos taken. Maybe even practice at home before you leave for the best results.

Camera Settings:

1. Set you camera to a high resolution/image quality setting..this way the file will contain enough information to zoom in and fill a big beautiful page! See Photography 101

What is Picture Resolution?

Picture/image resolution describes the detail an image holds. Resolution is measured by the number of pixels in an image.

What is Image quality"

This refers to the format a photo is saved in. Certain formats preserve the details of the image better than others. The format most of us are familiar with is JPEG.

What is print resolution?

This refers to the detail of the printed image. Print resolution is measured in dots per inch (dpi). Blurb books are printed at 360dpi.

How does it all translate to Print size?

The higher the image resultion and image quality the bigger you can print an image and keep the fine details.

Example:

Let's say we want to print an 8X10-inch picture at 300 dpi.  What resolution must we have to do this? 

Answer: 300 times 8 (inches) is 2400 pixels and 300 times 10 (inches) is 3000 pixels.  So we would need a 3000X2400 pixel image to do this.  Multiply 3000X2400 and you need a 7.2 megapixel camera.

Nothing currently, but do suspect some medication might be necessary in the future.
